Link Juice....... - vjbacklinks - 09-27-2011

I have read so many articles and tutorials about link juice.

I still cannot understrand it completely.

For example you register a forum profile on PR-8 domain but your forum profile page which contains your backlink is a PR-0. No matter how many years pass it still remains a PR-0.

What do people mean when they say it passes the link juice onto your backlink.

Experts please explain...

If it's a dofollow link then your forum gains PR.

From what I know it's some low percentage like 0.2% etc. not sure about the numbers just an example.

Also if that PR8 page is linking to 25 external websites then the PR/link juice each of those sites get is decreased big time.

Don't worry about such small technical details, just focus on getting more and more links back to your website.

Problem is, like etojoy already pointed out, that there is only so much link power to pass down. If the forum home page has a PR 8 (lets say its link power is "100"), and it links to 25 sub pages, then each page gets 1/25 of the hom pages link power (100/25 = 4). One of the sub pages is the "Member List" (link power "4"), that links to 20 sub pages (probably some sort of A-Z list of members), those get 1/20 link power (4/20 = 0,8). One of those 0,8 pages links to your profile page and let's say 19 others, so that leaves you with 0,04 link power.

Obviously this is just a very simple example and it is really more complicated than that, but I hope it shows the why a high domain PR doesn't necessarily guarantee high PR on any given sub page.
