I do both ... save them from time to time, only to be sure I would be able to have a list to check for availability if the sources become unavailable at some time...
Otherwise, I always harvest new ones and prune them twice before using them that day.
It starts with 2.500-2.800, comes down to about 200 first run (blocked IPs, 404, etc...), then to about 120-140 after filtering high latency ones...
In the end, I prune them again both levels and finally come down to 30-40 usable proxies that tend to stick and have good speed...
